1. Independent service

Your Asset Advisors is a private, independent business. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the California State Controller’s Office or any other federal, state, or local government agency. Mentions of the State Controller on this site are for information only.

2. You can claim for free

You do not need to hire anyone to recover unclaimed property. Owners may search for and claim property directly from the California State Controller at no cost at claimit.ca.gov. Our service is optional and for owners who prefer help with the research, paperwork, and follow-up.

3. Our fee

Capped at 10%. Our fee will never exceed 10% of the value of the property recovered, consistent with California Code of Civil Procedure § 1582.
Contingent. The fee is owed only if and after the State pays your claim. If the claim isn’t paid, you owe nothing.
No upfront payment. We never charge application, filing, or upfront fees.
In writing. Before we act for you, you sign a written agreement that clearly discloses the nature and value of the property, that it is held by the California State Controller, and the State Controller’s address, as required by California Code of Civil Procedure § 1582. We never charge anything before your claim is paid, and we do not enter agreements for property that has been reported to the State but not yet transferred to it.
The State pays you directly. You then pay our agreed fee as set out in the agreement.

4. Not a law firm; no legal or tax advice

Your Asset Advisors is not a law firm, and no one at Your Asset Advisors acts as your attorney. We do not provide legal advice or tax advice. For complex matters such as probate, contested estates, or tax questions, please consult a licensed attorney or tax professional.

5. Not an investment adviser; no investment advice

Despite the word “Advisors” in our name, Your Asset Advisors is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial planner. We do not provide investment, securities, or financial planning advice, and we do not manage money. Our only service is helping owners claim unclaimed property held by the State. If recovered property includes stock or securities, decisions about holding or selling them are yours, and you may want to consult a licensed financial professional.

6. No guarantee

The State Controller decides every claim. We can’t guarantee that a claim will be approved, how much will be paid, or how long it will take. Processing often takes several months. Amounts shown in public records may be estimates or ranges.

7. Your responsibilities

You agree to give accurate information and documents and to claim only property you’re legally entitled to. Filing a false claim is against the law.

8. Communications and opting out

We may contact owners using information from public records. You can opt out of emails at any time by replying “UNSUBSCRIBE” or through our unsubscribe page; requests are honored within 10 business days.

9. Website use

This website is provided for general information. Content may change without notice. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from use of this website. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
